Over the bank holiday weekend, junior young farmers from the East Midlands Area headed to Norfolk Lakes for lots of fun and making memories! It was a great opportunity for Nottinghamshire YFC members to meet other young people from Derbyshire, Lincolnshire, Leicestershire and Northamptonshire. Nine Nottinghamshire YFC junior members took part; Daniel, Winter, Willow, Hugh and Andie from Collingham YFC, Hannah and Harriet from Southwell YFC and Elsie and Eleanor from Tuxford YFC. ‘It was straight into activities after we arrived on Friday afternoon and then settling in to our rooms and getting to know the group.
Saturday was a morning of water based fun, and nobody left dry – even the leaders who tried their best to stay above water somehow became the main targets for pushing in for raft building and paddle boarding!! Back to land for the afternoon before having the NFYFC Summit delivered by our National Chair, Jess and finished the day off with the Giant Canoe – where getting wet was optional until the rain started!
Sunday morning was spent on the water again kayaking and canoeing around the lake before our Sunday roast! And then back on land again for our final afternoon. Some free time in the evening after marshmallows and games around the campfire!
Before we knew it we were on Monday and our last couple of activities included rifles, aeroball, archery, blind trail, caving and climbing! We said our farewells after lunch and parted ways back home!
