Despite the fact the Young Farmers National AGM was being hosted on the same weekend as the County Show, this didn’t deter the members into putting on a really great showcase.
The YFC Marquee was buzzing all weekend. To tie in with our theme of “Serving our Country” there was a vintage tractor and trailer outside, with a floral display, scrap metal military vehicles, planted wheelbarrows and wooden step ladders all made by members, flanked by a new Claas tractor, to show old and new.
Inside the marquee members of the public were subjected to an array of exhibits; floral art, vegetable sculptures, plaited loafs, giant jam tarts, sewing and some incredible creations of cakes depicting a vegetable patch.
The Sunday saw over 200 entries in the stock judging classes, well done to Tuxford YFC who claimed the trophies for the Exhibit and stock judging sections. Kate Walker of Tuxford YFC was awarded the Mick Saxby memorial trophy, for gaining the highest points overall in Stock judging and Daisy Baugh of Tuxford YFC was awarded the Roy Turner Trophy for highest points overall in the Junior stock judging.
Other congratulations go to Lowdham YFC who was crowned Club of the Year and Alice Beckett from Caunton YFC who was given the title Members Member, as voted for by the membership.
YFC would like to thank the Newark & Nottinghamshire Agricultural Society for supporting YFC at the County Show, along with sponsors Tallents Solicitors and Duncan & Toplis.
