A group of Southwell Young Farmers have walked a total of 73 miles in 3 days in aid of More Tomorrows for Mito, a campaign helping fund urgent gene therapy research for families living with RRM2B mitochondrial disease. The challenge was organised by Southwell YFC member Gabi, who was inspired to organise the event in support of her local friends JoJo and Rachael .
Gabi said, ‘Having grown up with them, I’ve watched these incredible humans fight for their lives and now they are fighting for their futures. Both JoJo and Rachael have deteriorated through the years with Rachael now completely reliant on her parents and machines to keep her alive. They have a massive goal to reach £450,000 by June 2027 in order to get this life changing treatment. This family have fought so hard for so long and they deserve all the help they can get.’
‘From a pipe dream I had in a pub to a group of friends pulling together and pushing themselves to the limit without question is more than I could’ve asked for. I am so immensely proud of us all. I honestly can’t thank everyone enough. All those involved and all those who have donated. It is appreciated more than you know.’
The group have now raised in excess of £5000 for More Tomorrows for Mito and the donations continue to come in. Please follow the link below if you would like to donate to this worthy cause:
