Keeping traditions alive

YFC is the best part of 80 years old, and although we’re firmly in the 21st Century some of the old traditions we have a hand in keeping alive.

The Plough Sunday service being a great example, YFC members for as many years as we can remember have carried the plough and led the procession through Newark Market Place to St Mary’s Church, for the service in order to ‘bless’ the plough for the forthcoming season, in the hope of fruitful crops for the harvest.

YFC Members play a large part of the service, and this year County Show Vice chairman Will Hill did a great job of the reading.
